Q:If I was travelling and I had a stable macular degenerative disease in my eye, my optomoligist said that I am good for Oct 2026 for annual check, however during my travel I noticed flashes and floators and I needed to see an optomoligist and they said I need to get laser treatement ASAP to stop retina bleedsing. Would this be considered a covered pre-existing condition if I purchased a pre-existing condition waiver.

A:
You would need a plan that covers pre-existing conditions and not an Acute onset of a pre-existing condition. For it to cover you must not be traveling against the advise of your doctor or for the purpose of receiving treatment.

Q:Hello Team My parents are visiting USA on July 7th and looking for insurance which covers existing diabetics condition. I have a question and could you please confirm in writing that Insurance policy with 50,000 or 100,000 coverage for travelers aged 62 and 57 covers emergency hospitalization due to diabetic ketoacidosis , severe hypoglycemia or severe hyperglycemia as an acute onset of a pre existing condition subject to the policy terms?

A:
Those conditions can only be covered if they meet the Acute onset of a pre-existing definition. An "Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition" is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-Existing Condition(s) which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires immediate care. The Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition must occur after the effective date of the policy. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. A Pre-Existing Condition that is a chronic or congenital condition or that gradually becomes worse over time will not be considered Acute Onset. This benefit does not include coverage for known, scheduled, required, or expected medical care, drugs or Treatments existent or necessary prior to the Effective Date of coverage.
