Q:3 people over the age of 60 and one over 70 are planning to visit the US, they all have diabetes which is currently stable and without any flare ups in the past. One person has BP which is also managed and has not had any highs or lows in the recent past. One person has borderline cholesterol. Other than that there are no preexisting medical conditions. They will be visiting only for 35 days so I want to know which plan would work best for them. I dont want to opt for an expensive plan. The intention to buy the insurance is solely for the purpose of any emergency room visits or urgent care visits in case there's a need for it.

A:
These are expensive conditions that offer a considerable risk for insurance companies to insure. We advise you take a comprehensive plan that covers an acute onset of a pre-existing condition. An "Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition" is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-Existing Condition(s) which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of Physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration, is rapidly progressive, and requires immediate care. The Acute Onset of a Pre-Existing Condition must occur after the effective date of the policy. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. A Pre-Existing Condition that is a chronic or congenital condition or that gradually becomes worse over time will not be considered Acute Onset. This benefit does not include coverage for known, scheduled, required, or expected medical care, drugs or Treatments existent or necessary prior to the Effective Date of coverage.
